Women's Soccer Roster Grows With Add Of Mohala Kalauli

SAN FRANCISCO – With the return to campus just around the corner for the upcoming 2022 season, the Academy of Art women's soccer coaching staff has announced the latest member of the Fall 2022 recruiting class as joining the Urban Knights this campaign will be Mohala Kalauli (Papaikou, Hawaii/Lynn College). 

Kylie Mohala KalauliKalauli comes to Academy of Art as an athletic freshman despite spending last year with Lynn College, however, she did not appear in any contests for the Fighting Knights. Prior to college, the versatile defender attended Hilo High School for two years before transferring to and graduating Magna Cum Laude from Ke Kula 'O Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu in 2021, playing varsity soccer all four years. During her time with the Hilo High Vikings, Kalauli became a champion as the Vikings won the 2019 State Cup Championship. In addition to her soccer career, she ran varsity track for two seasons where, in the high jump, she qualified for the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Championship Meet in her first competition of the season, and was also named Track & Field Athlete of the Year during her freshman year in 2018. 

In addition to her high school career, the Papaikou, Hawaii native appeared for numerous club teams that includes seven years with Nā Hoa o Puna and four seasons with Chicas Soccer Club. Among the others she appeared for were Kona Crush Soccer Academy, Lanakila Soccer Club, and Hawaii Surf Soccer. A true defender, her favorite sports moment is when she is able to block an opponent's shot.

Upon her arrival to ART U, Kalauli will enroll in the School of Fashion Design with the goal of one day becoming a fashion designer for a luxury brand. She is now the fifth member of the recruiting class which also features Alicia CalderonClaire LauDanielle Medellin and Natalia Cruz
