Going undefeated at the Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament this past week was junior Paulina Alvarez, who won six of her matches without falling to any opponents to help secure the PacWest title for No. 48 Academy of Art women's tennis. 

Competing on the doubles court with senior Viktoria Leth on Court 3 in all four matches, the pair began the tournament in the opening round against Colorado Mesa, where they would come out on top with a 7-6 (11-9) score to clinch the first doubles point of the week. 

After conducting a clean 6-0 sweep with Leth on the doubles court in the Quarterfinal matchup, Alvarez took down her opponent on Court 6 with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 score to push ART U into the Semifinal and clinch the victory over No. 36 Hawaii Pacific for the Urban Knights.

Also clinching the doubles point in the Semifinal for the squad against No. 30 Point Loma in doubles with a 7-6 (7-2) score, Alvarez increased the Knights’ lead to two with her win over the Sea Lions, besting her opponent 6-4, 6-2. 

In the PacWest Championship match, Alvarez won once more in doubles 6-2 to give the Knights the advantage to the eventual victory over No. 19 Azusa Pacific.
