Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Academy of Art Athletics is committed to creating and upholding an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging. We hold ourselves accountable for maintaining that culture through educational activities and support systems, practices, and spaces that respect individual and group differences. As our ART U Athletics community is built from a global perspective, we embrace seeing beyond our personal worldviews.
Our commitment to these values is shown through recognition of inherently unbalanced societal power structures and our desire to create an equitable playing field. In pursuit of that goal, we emphasize and challenge our department to connect with, interview, and recruit a diverse set of individuals, as well as strictly prohibit all forms of retaliation. Towards the broader community, we promote the understanding of the need for programs like Title IX and the progress they bring, and we encourage the transformation of our surroundings into a more conscious and connected atmosphere. Additionally, we support the Academy of Art Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee’s efforts towards achieving the same goals.
"Diversity is where everyone is invited to the party.
Equity means that everyone gets to contribute to the playlist.
And inclusion means that everyone has the opportunity to dance."
