In her first action since being named an All-American this past spring, Academy of Art women's tennis sophomore Amelija Supulniece was crowned the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association West Regional Individual Champion on Sept. 28 after besting her own teammate, sophomore Sofia Pavlova, in the single final. Taking the match with a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 score, Supulniece logged her sixth singles victory in three days en route to the second individual title in ART U program history. The West Region Individual Champion honor for Supulniece was the first since Monika Stanikova did so back in 2018 and is the fifth ITA award received in the tournament after the Knights took three consecutive doubles titles between 2016-2018.

"Amelija looked so fresh throughout the entire tournament and it was impressive how she never seemed to look tired," said Head Coach Nicole Briceño. "It wasn't easy but she did great while fighting really hard."

Supulniece also teamed with freshman Evi Roobol in the doubles bracket and reached to the semifinals with just three sets allowed to their opponents in three matches.
