As one of the hottest hitters in the Pacific West Conference to end the season, junior outfielder Niko Leite batted .300 (5-for-15) in the Urban Knights’ final series. Three multi-hit games came for Leite in the month of May, including two against Hawaii-Hilo on May 3. The Rodeo, CA native had one run batted in during the series opener that day and added a stolen base along with a run scored in the backend of the doubleheader. The junior outfielder was then 1-for-4 with a two runs scored, a double, and a steal in the first contest on May 4.
Leite concludes 2011 with a total of 11 multi-hit efforts and seven of his 11 stolen bases during the final four weeks of the season. During that span, Leite raised his batting average by an impressive 60 points.
