In a week where the Urban Knights shutout No. 21 Sonoma State for 73 minutes, senior defender and captain Vilmundur Sveinsson was a major force in the ART U backfield. A starter in both matches "Vimmi" made numerous defensive plays in the Sept. 1 season opener versus SSU, limiting the 2010 CCAA Champion Seawolves to just two shots on goal in the first half.

The Academy of Art match against Northwest Nazarene over the weekend on Sept. 3 was another instance of Sveinsson's strong performance. After two early goals by NNU, the senior defender and his teammates kept the Crusaders off the board while the ART U offense got it back to a tie game. Although Sveinsson's efforts are not always apparent in the box scores, his commitment to the game is a frequent topic for Head Coach Daniel Rosaia.
