Amos Maru continued to turn in senior season highlights with a first place finish at the 2011 San Francisco State University Invitational this past Friday, Oct. 7. Maru finished the 8k course through Golden Gate Park with a time of 24.35.6. The mark was over 30 seconds better than the next qualifying runner, senior teammate Daveson Marindich.
Maru's time was also just two seconds off his career best that came at the Stanford Invitational last year. This finish marks the second consecutive occasion in which Maru has won the SFSU Invite. And in comparison to Maru's previous outing in Golden Gate Park, the 2011 USF Invitational on Sept. 3, he impressively reduced his time by more than a full minute.
Head coach Charles Ryan offered his post-meet thoughts on the senior Nandi Hills, Kenya native, "Amos winning meet was definitely a big deal so I'm proud of him for that."
