Senior guard Devin London gave Academy of Art women's basketball her all in a 2-0 week to put the Urban Knights over .500 as a team this season. She first tied a program record with 29 points in an 81-73 overtime victory against Cal State Los Angeles. Then London, a PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll selection, had a variety of contributions versus Western Oregon, helping ART U to a second half comeback with six points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Looking closer at the historical performance on Friday night, London scored nine of her 29 points came in the second half including a pair in the final minute and a half to cut the Eagles' lead to two. Then, in overtime, London not only helped ART U establish a six-point advantage, but she also furthered that margin by knocking down four free throws in the final 20 seconds (London was 7-of-8 from the foul line in the contest). Over the two games last week, London averaged 17.5 points (5th in PacWest), 6.5 rebounds (11th in PacWest) and 4.0 assists (3rd in PacWest) per game. She remains signficantly ahead of all other PacWest players with a 3.5 steals per game average this year.
“Devin had an incredible game,” head coach
LaNay Larson said after Friday's contest. “She made great decisions, took great shots, and we're always happy when she has more assists than turnovers. It was an all-around great game for her and by far the best game I've ever seen her play. We're really proud of her.”
