Sophomore Reneilwe Aphane is simply a type of jumper Academy of Art University track and field has never seen before. After setting numerous new triple jump records by significant margins during the indoor season, Aphane carried his success to the outdoor portion as evidenced by his efforts these previous two weeks.

At the 2012 UC Davis Aggie Open this past Saturday, the Pretoria, South Africa native jumped to a 49-10 distance, surpassing the program's previous top triple jump mark he set at the Kim Duyst Invitational one week prior. He posted the new record on his first attempt and finished second out of 22 jumpers in that particular event.
