Senior Emil Tolliver enjoyed a very memorable weekend in Southern California, setting a personal record in the 100m dash at the 54th Annual Mt. SAC Relays and later a new Academy of Art University record in the 200m dash at the Beach Invitational.

First at the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday, Tolliver posted a 10.64 in the 100m which served as his new lifetime best in the event. He would finish 19th overall in a race that saw a total of 47 runners. The Oakland, CA native then did one better with a new program record in the 200m out at Long Beach State's Beach Invitational on Saturday. Tolliver used a strong final push to win his heat by a considerable margin and come away with the 21.33 end result, topping competitors from Colorado and UC Irvine in the process.

“Emil's breakthrough this weekend was a testament to hard work and execution,” head coach Charles Ryan said. “For him to get all the way down to 10.6 [on Friday at Mt. SAC] and 21.3 is fantastic. I'm really proud of the work he has put in here both on and off the track and I'm just sad that we won't have him next year. He executed his race plans very well this weekend and was a major highlight this weekend.”
