Senior forward Katy Wade stood tall in the Urban Knights return home after their Hawaii roadtrip. The Portland, OR native went for a career-high 16 rebounds and 15 points to produce her fifth double-double of the year. In addition, she picked up two steals, two blocks and one assist in 27 minutes on the floor.
The rebound total (eight offensive, eight defensive) was the fourth-highest mark in program history and much of the senior's production came during ART U's comeback in the second half. Wade had nine points and 10 rebounds in that period alone including a layup that sparked Academy of Art University's 9-0 run in the final minutes.
“Katy took some steps [against UH Hilo],” head coach LaNay Larson said. “I thought she was more aggressive. I still think she can finish better around the basket, but that was a very physical game and because of her length, she doesn't tend to get a lot of calls so we just need to play through that just establish good position. She's so versatile and did a great job on the boards tonight.”
