Junior Rachael Smith turned in a pair of strong performances on back-to-back nights against UH Hilo and Hawaii Pacific this past week, averaging 49.5 assists, 5.5 kills, and 12.5 digs.
Smith started with an all-around effort in ART U's 3-1 win over the Vulcans on Wednesday, Oct. 1. She posted 53 assists, 20 digs, and six kills (all season-highs). The 20 digs were a career-best and her six kills matched her top mark from 2013. Then, against the Sharks on Oct. 2, the junior added 46 assists and five kills to make it four consecutive matches with 45+ assists.
Now the Pacific West Conference leader, Smith is averaging 11.15 assists per set and her performances have brought her to within 20 assists from becoming the ART U career leader.
