Junior Annika Schneider was a leader for the No. 9 Academy of Art University women's tennis team Saturday as the only Urban Knight that won a singles match in a hard-fought 5-2 defeat against No. 11 Hawaii Pacific in the NCAA Division II West Regional.

Schneider made quick work of her No. 6 singles opponent Julia Sauer, defeating her 6-1, 6-3. She jumped out to 5-0 and 5-1 leads, respectively, in each set for the dominating victory. The No. 19-ranked ART U doubles pair of senior Nina Gajdosikova and Schneider was beaten 8-5 at No. 1 by the No. 5-ranked HPU team of Kristyna Hancarova and Nicole Hoynaskito make the match 1-1 at the time.
