At the Pacific West Championships in Glendale, AZ this past week, Academy of Art University women's tennis secured 5th place and the Knights could not have done it without sophomore Maria "Belen" Tenorio. In AAU's second and third consolation matches, both which ended with Academy of Art winning 5-4, Tenorio turned in some very strong performances to put her team over the top. Versus Hawaii-Hilo on Apr. 16, the sophomore won in the fourth position 6-0, 6-2 and teamed with sophomore Cecilia Hedin to win in doubles 8-6. When the Urban Knights faced Grand Canyon the following day, Tenorio prevailed 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 in an incredible three-set singles match to give AAU the edge and 5th place as a team overall.
