Pacific West Conference Runner of the Year graduate student Hasna Kaarour challenged 260 of the best runners in NCAA Division II on Nov. 23 at NCAA Nationals in Sacramento and walked away 48th overall with a new 6k personal record.

Through the first mile of the course, the Landscape Architecture major found herself 70th overall. Kaarour was then 86th a little past halfway at the 3.5k mark, but her subsequent move up did not disappoint. Stepping in front of nearly 20 others by 4.3k, Kaarour rose suddenly and, with less than one kilometer to go, she was 56th with her previous 6k record (21:06.99) within reach. The Strasbourg, France native powered through a dramatic finish to claim 48th across the line with a new 6k PR of 21:05.0 in tow.
