Box Score

Santa Clarita, CA
– Despite receiving 25 points from junior Phillip Samuel, Academy of Art University (0-2) fell to the Master's College (3-0) Saturday afternoon. The Urban Knights dropped their second contest of the season 75-65 in Santa Clarita, Ca.

Falling behind 26-36 in the first half, the Urban Knights' 38 second half points were not enough to complete their comeback. “We kept fighting and had many chances but most of our damage was self inflicted”, Said Head Coach Mark Sembrowich.

Samuel, who was second on the team in scoring last season, and freshman Jordan Knox, led the offense combining for 39 points shooting 13-24 from the floor. Both impressed Sembrowich, “Samuel and Knox played very well for us today.”

AAU shot an impressive 41 percent during the game, including 7-18 from behind the arc, but they were not able to stop the Mustangs who recorded a field goal percentage of 52.

On the defensive side of the ball for the Urban Knights, junior Jonathan Burnett made quite an impact. Burnett grabbed a team high six rebounds and four steals.

The Urban Knights had no answer for Mustang Joey Fuca as he recorded 30 points, shooting 9-11 from the floor. On the defensive end, Mustang Nathan Borunda recorded six blocks against the Urban Knights while Thomas Millar brought down eight rebounds.

Up next, AAU will travel to Bellingham, WA to participate in the Western Washington Tournament. The first game for the Urban Knights will be at Sam Carver Gymnasium on November 27th at 7 pm when they take on Western Washington University.
