SO CLOSE
The ART U women's basketball team dropped a 69 - 73 overtime decision to Cal State LA in their season and home opener on Nov. 14. The Urban Knights led for a majority of the game but could not hold on for the full 45 minutes to secure their first victory. Newcomer Devin London had a team high 18 points, three assists, one steal, and was 5-5 from the free throw line. In their Urban Knight regular season debut Nicole DeRosier and Madeline Martin each chipped in with 11 points, while Martin added seven steals and four assists. Verity Peets finished the game with a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds.

OUT OF TOWNERS
The Urban Knights will play seven of their eight preseason games on the road. The Carl's Jr. Coslet Classic is their first of three tournaments. The four team tournament will pin them against two of the top teams from the CCAA, Chico State and Sonoma State. ART U's preseason schedule will not be an easy one as they will face four CCAA opponents and a Division I contest all on the opponents' home floor.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
This game marks the Wildcats' season and home opener. Chico State is picked to finished second in conference and opens their 2010-11 season ranked 17th in the region. Chico returns eight players who helped the squad finish 23-10 overall, including leading scorer Natasha Smith. Smith averaged 11.5 points per game and is one of three starters returning. Smith also topped the team in assists with 134. Melissa Richardson averaged 10.7 games last season and finished with a team high 57 steals. Synchro Bull enters her junior campaign after finishing third on the team in scoring. Bull averaged 10.2 points per game and finished with 110 assists.

SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES
Sonoma State University finished their 2009-10 season eighth in the CCAA with a 11-16 overall record and a 9-13 conference record. The Seawolves have just one senior, Oly Larkin. Larkin played and started in 26 matches last season. Larkin averaged 7.4 points per game and finished with 110 rebounds. Jaclyn Bisordi played in all 27 contests last season, finished third on the team in scoring and averaged 7.3 points per game.

KNIGHT TO WATCH

Madeline "Maddie" Martin had an impressive Urban Knight debut in ART U's home opener on Sunday Nov. 14 against Cal State LA. Off the bench, Martin came in and made an immediate impact on the game. The freshman registered 11 points in 27 minutes. Maddie hit two big threes in overtime to bring ART U to within three points. Martin was 2-3 from beyond the arc, and finished with four assists and a game high seven steals.
