VULCANS, ST. JOSEPH'S BEARS ON THE HORIZON FOR AAU:
This Tuesday and Wednesday, Academy of Art University baseball welcomes the University of Hawaii-Hilo for a four-game PacWest series at Louis Guisto Baseball Field. The Knights then meet Division III St. Joseph's College (NY) for a neutral site doubleheader on the campus of Menlo College this Saturday.
FIRST PITCH:
On Tuesday, Mar. 30, AAU takes on the Hawaii-Hilo in a PacWest Conference doubleheader beginning at 12:00 PM. The teams will conclude their series on Wednesday, Mar. 31 with another 12:00 PM doubleheader. All four games will be played at Louis Guisto Baseball Field on the campus of St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. Though originally scheduled to take on Menlo College on Saturday, Apr. 3, Academy of Art now faces St. Joseph's College from Brooklyn, NY that day in a pair of neutral site games at the Oaks' Cartan Field starting at 12:00 PM. Live score updates for the contests can be found on the Urban Knights' athletics site,

KNIGHT SPOTLIGHT:
After going 5-for-17 in five games this past week, sophomore infielder
Kenny Rollins, Jr. now leads AAU with a .298 batting average. Junior outfielder
Ryan Worley also hovers around the .300 mark, batting .291 along with a team-best nine RBIs, 23 hits, and six doubles.

SCOUTING THE VULCANS:
Hawaii-Hilo began 2010 by splitting a six-game series with Northwest Nazarene, but PacWest play has not been so kind. After winning one of six contests versus Hawaii Pacific, the Vulcans were later swept by Dixie State and now carry a 3-13 conference record. Of the regular starters, right-handed pitcher John Holley, Jr. (2-1) has the top ERA (5.16) and is tied with lefty Kekoa Lee (0-2) for the most strikeouts (23). Infielder Shane Kessel and outfielder Keoni Manago serve as the primary offensive weapons for UHH. The pair has combined for 35 RBIs, 28 runs scored, 10 doubles, and three home runs.
SCOUTING THE BEARS:
St. Joseph's College is a Division III program hailing from Brooklyn, NY and when the Bears have won this season, they have broke out offensively. SJC put away John Jay College 14-13 on Mar. 18, Emerson College 19-4 on Mar. 20, and then defeated the University of Maine-Presque Isle 5-1 on Mar. 27. Infielder Chris Davidson bats .457 with 16 hits, 13 RBIs, and one home run. Righty Keith Juricich (3-1) tossed a complete game in his most recent start and sports a 0.00 ERA with 11 strikeouts to pace the team
.
DIXIE STATE SWEEPS SERIES WITH AAU:
In St. George, UT for four games against DSC, the Knights could not calm the Red Storm, falling 5-2 and 17-4 on Mar. 26. One day later, Dixie State got the best of AAU again with final scores of 17-3 and 5-2. Academy of Art led the Red Storm 1-0 early in the final game, but could not come back after a five-run second by DSC. Senior outfielder
Mike Gutierrez went deep for the first time in his AAU career in the series' opening contest while Robbins now carries a four-game hitting streak after going 6-for-11 with three RBIs and one run.
LOOKING AHEAD:
With this week in the books, AAU will host its final PacWest series on Apr. 9-10 when Grand Canyon comes to town. The teams play four games at Louis Guisto Field in Moraga, CA.
