FIRST PITCH
The Urban Knights dropped their opening series to defending PacWest champions Dixie State, but weren't discouraged about the early-season setback. Niko Leite is batting .438 in the early going and already has two triples and three RBIs for the Knights. Zach Mexicano, Nate Gercken, and Yoshi Uemura will look to rebound, as Wade Broadstreet will look to avenge his tough-luck complete game loss against Dixie. Spencer Roland hasn't given up a run in 5.0 innings so far out of the bullpen.

NO PROBLEMS ON OFFENSE FOR CBU
The Lancers have shown no mercy since transitioning to the PacWest Conference, averaging over eight runs per game in the early season, including an 11-0 win over CSU Los Angeles, and back-to-back 15-run outputs against Grand Canyon. Cal Baptist is hitting .354 as a team, with Kevin Odom (.458), Matt Daugherty (.455), and Matt Marnati (.412)  leading the way, each of them with four doubles. Pitchers Andy Abrams and Jon Bengard have combined for 22.1 innings allowing only one earned run, good for a 0.41 ERA.

BROTHERLY LOVE? OR SIBLING RIVALRY?
Second-baseman Zach Babitt has garnered a lot of attention here in the preseason, being named to the Pre-season All-PacWest team, but he'll have to compete for family bragging rights with his younger brother, freshman Myles Babitt. Myles, who also plays on the Urban Knights men's basketball team, showed that he can both run the floor as point guard and run a fastball on the mound, pitching in relief in Thursday's first game and getting out of a late-inning jam. Zach, however, went 4-14 with two runs and two RBIs in his first action of the season.

KNIGHTS ON WATCH
Johnathan Robbins sits on the brink of many ART U baseball records, and the season hasn't even started yet. The senior outfielder already holds program marks in runs (73) and stolen bases (53), but is also close to the mark in hits, sitting only five away from a new Urban Knights record which right now stands at 102, set by outfielder Ryan Worley. Stefen Henderson is also on the verge of a couple marks himself, most notably the home run record. The Knights current home run leader is Chris Vargas, who has seven in his career, and Henderson's six homers rank second. Pitcher Zach Mexicano is leading the ART U pitchers, and is only three strikeouts away from Darnell Quinney's 96 career punch-outs.

WHAT'S ON DECK
The Urban Knights will come back to play six games at home, starting with a three-game set against Northwest Nazarene from Feb. 23-25, followed by a four-game series hosting the Lancers in Oakland on March 1-3.
