TIPPING OFF

Academy of Art split their two games of the PacWest-CCAA Challenge held in San Rafael but showcased their high-powered offense in the process, averaging 91.5 points per game. The Urban Knights got back-to-back career games, one from Alex Carmon and the other from Aaron Aikman, and came away with the one win, and while head coach Julius Barnes was pleased with the offensive output, he knows that there is still tightening up to do on the defensive end.

OTTERS OPENING ON THE ROAD
While the Knights have already put in two games of work, the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters have not yet stepped on the court for a regular season game in the 2013-14 season. They did split a pair of exhibition games, falling to Division I University of San Diego but defeating another Division I school in San Jose State a week later. Although an exhibition game, CSUMB's Alex Fertig dropped 31 points on the Spartans in San Jose. In the game against USD, they went with a more balanced attack, getting four players in double figures against the Toreros.

20/20 VISION FOR ART U
The Knights started off the year with two big games on offense led by two big pieces of their puzzle who are both averaging over 20 points a game. The first game against Cal State East Bay was highlighed by last year's PacWest Freshman of the Year Alex Carmon posting a career-high 31 points, flirting with a triple-double with eight rebounds and eight assists. The next day big man Aaron Aikman had a career day, shooting 100 percent from the field en route to a 26-point effort, backing up his 20-point performance against the Pioneers.

CLAN WELCOME KNIGHTS BACK TO CANADA
Saturday's matchup will be the third year in a row that Academy of Art and Simon Fraser will square off, and so far the Urban Knights have won both matchups by a combined four points. They narrowly defeated the Clan in Burnaby in 2011 84-83, and then last year staved off a late comeback to win 71-68. This year they'll take on a squad that is playing an extended homestand at home before hitting the road, and is also just coming off an 84-77 win over PacWest foe Notre Dame de Namur last week. Ibrahim Appiah tied for the high in points (13) and pulled down a team-high in rebounds (8) in the win.

IN TRANSITION
After facing Simon Fraser, ART U will have a week off before taking on UC San Diego at RIMAC Arena on November 30th. Then they'll open the PacWest schedule against Point Loma Nazarene University on December 5th.
