After starting Pacific West Conference play with two wins in three days, the Urban Knights are back at Kezar Pavilion this Saturday evening for their first matchup with Dominican University. Academy of Art puts its perfect record both in conference (2-0) and against the Penguins (9-0) on the line this weekend.

KNIGHT WATCH
Unselfish and sharing the offensive responsibility, five Urban Knights are currently double digit scorers. Coming off an 18-point performance in ART U's win over California Baptist, Molly O'Brien averages 11.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She is also shooting over 80 percent from the free throw line where the Knights have gotten about a fourth of their points. Zoie Sheng is next in line at 11.6 points per game complemented by team-highs in assists (27) as well as steals (17) and has run the point to perfection. She sports a 3.38 assist-to-turnover ratio that ranks 11th in all of NCAA Division II. Sha'Nice Storey (11.1 ppg), Regina Camera (10.8 ppg), and Alisa Griggs (10.4 ppg) add to Academy of Art's offensive attack. Storey and Camera are each making over 1.5 3-pointers per game while Griggs has worked hard underneath with the highest field goal percentage on the team (.500). Jasmin Guinn is not far behind her five teammates, averaging 9.8 points, 7.6 rebounds (tied with Griggs for team-lead with 27 offensive rebounds), and 2.9 assists per game.

PENGUINS FEELING A CHILL
Starting their 2013-14 campaign with exhibitions versus nationally ranked Chico State and Division I University of San Francisco, Dominican put itself against some of the best before taking a pair of losses to Cal State East Bay (90-51) and Humboldt State (71-59) in ART U's own PacWest/CCAA Challenge on Nov. 16-17. It was three more tough results in the Alaska Fairbanks' North Start Invitational with host Alaska Fairbanks (82-65), RV Wayne State College (84-44), and Lees-McRae College (82-70) all topping the Penguins. Dominican then started PacWest play with a 70-59 loss to Azusa Pacific and a 78-46 defeat at the hands of Point Loma, bringing the Penguins to a 0-8 overall record thus far. The team is led by Salonika Quewon-Owens' 8.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game. ART U holds a 9-0 advantage historically against the Penguins with victories by 11 points and 22 points respectively last year.

KNIGHTS TURN IN PERFECT START TO PACWEST PLAY
Opening up PacWest at home this past week, ART U Women's Basketball defeated both Point Loma and California Baptist to break a losing streak and become one of four undefeated teams in the conference thus far.

In their first PacWest contest of the 2013-14 season on Dec. 3, Academy of Art topped PLNU 67-59 with a balanced offensive attack. The Urban Knights built a 43-32 lead at halftime and fended off a comeback attempt by the Sea Lions in the second period thanks to five players scoring in double figures. Then it was a defensive exhibition on Dec. 5 for the 74-66 victory over California Baptist, their first against the Lancers in four historical meetings. ART U scored 19 points off a season-best 24 turnovers forced while offensively it was another balanced scoring effort with Molly O'Brien's 18 points leading a pack of four Urban Knights scoring in double figures.

LOOKING AHEAD
Following Saturday's matchup, ART U takes a quick break from PacWest play to participate in the Las Vegas Challenge where they will play Western Oregon for the second time this season and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Dec. 18-19 in Orleans Arena. A conference rematch with California Baptist follows on Dec. 21.
