TIPPING OFF

Behind one of their best shooting nights of the year and a stellar lock-down performance by their defense, the Academy of Art University men's basketball team picked up a huge win over South Bay rival Notre Dame de Namur, knocking them off for the first time in program history last Thursday with a 68-56 win. The Urban Knights had five players in double figures and will continue their Bay Area swing this week hosting Holy Names and then traveling to NDNU to take on the Argonauts again.

ROUND ONE TO THE HAWKS
The Urban Knights led for a long time in the game last month against Holy Names in Oakland, but a late charge by the Hawks sent the game into overtime and they ended up beating the Knights 83-80. Alex Carmon had 24 points in that game and Alexis Moore had 19 of his own, but a three-pointer by Carl Dorn with 15 seconds on the clock sent it to overtime, where the Hawks would win at the free-throw line. Joshua Crum had 14 of his 18 points from the line, while Dorn had 24 points on a night where he was 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Harold Perry, Jr. continues to lead the Hawks in scoring, however, aceraging 13.8 points per game.

MOORE ON THE MOVE
Continuing to shoot up the charts among historical Academy of Art University men's basketball players, junior guard Alexis Moore is also cementing himself among the leaders in the conference, as he was named to the Hawaii Tourism Authority PacWest Final 5. Moore spread his numbers around and stacked the stat sheet with 15 points, seven assists, and four steals as the Urban Knights defeated Notre Dame de Namur. Moore was one of five Knights in double figures, and his seven assists were the second-most this year, only behind his almost-triple double against UH Hilo in January (10 pts, 10 rebs, 9 ast). He has also now scored in double digits in 20 of the 21 games he has played in this year.

BACK SO SOON?
After playing the Argonauts on Thursday, the Knights will make the trip down the peninsula to take on NDNU on their home court, and will look to pull of the season sweep of the Argos behind another team effort. ART U limited NDNU's scoring leader in Simon Enciso to only 14 points on a shooting percentage less than 40 percent from the floor, and the Argos have now dropped three straight after their loss to the Knights.

IN TRANSITION
ART U will continue their road trip within the state as they head to Fresno Pacific University on February 17th and then host Dixie State at home on February 22nd.
