2015 All-Pacific West Conference Teams Release -- May 11, 2015
IRVINE, Calif. — After a season full of success, Academy of Art University baseball's top pitcher and offensive player earned well-deserved recognition Monday as senior starting pitcher

Joseph Marchini were named to All-Pacific West Conference teams, as announced by the conference.

Gercken earned All-PacWest Second Team honors and Marchini was named to the All-PacWest Third Team. Both players set new standards for the Urban Knights, setting multiple single-season records and imprinting their names all over the career records list while playing key parts in ART U's second-winningest season in program history.

Gercken set single-season records in wins (6), strikeouts (79), ERA (2.90), opponent batting average (.206), complete games (7), shutouts (2) games started (14) and innings pitched (96 1/3). He led the PacWest in innings pitched and was ranked third in the country in games started and fifth in the nation in complete games. His 79 strikeouts were 43rd best in the NCAA.

Marchini set a new single-season hits record with 59 base hits in 2015. He also set a new ART U standard with 84 total bases. He batted .321 with 20 multi-hit games during the year. He finished the season with a four-game hitting streak and hits in nine of his last 10 games. He had seven doubles, tied the single-season record with three triples and also hit three home runs.

California Baptist led the league with 11 honors, including two individual awards. Dixie State earned nine, including three individual awards.

CBU junior Antonio Chavarria was named PacWest Player of the Year. Fresno Pacific senior Wilson Ashford was named the PacWest Pitcher of the Year. CBU senior Andy Crowley was named the inaugural PacWest Defender of the Year. Dixie State freshman Dylan File was named the PacWest Freshman of the Year. Dixie State junior Tanner Morache was named the PacWest Newcomer of the Year, and Dixie State's Chris Pfatenhauer repeated as PacWest Coach of the Year. He guided Dixie State to its second-consecutive PacWest title and fourth-consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. After starting the season 0-7, Dixie State won 25 of its next 26 games, including a 20-1 record in PacWest play.

CBU led all teams with nine All-PacWest selections, while Dixie State and Azusa Pacific each had six. Ashford, Crowley and Dixie State's Kevin Kline and Evan Parker were all repeat first-team selections.
