SAN DIEGO – Highly efficient shooting the basketball, Point Loma used runs at the start of each quarter to gain an advantage and never look back, defeating Academy of Art 98-51 inside Golden Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Rodericka Ware completed a 13-5 ART U response. Despite being within two points of PLNU at 15-13, the Knights ended up trailing by 10 at the end of the first following an 8-0 surge by the home team.
The Sea Lions extended their run to 15 unanswered at the start of the second quarter before junior forward

Hayley Pryor then knocked down a 3-pointer. Junior guard
Jazzlynn Brewster converted free throws late in the period, but Point Loma finished the opening half shooting over 64 percent from the field and was up 52-24 at the break.
Like each of the two previous quarters, Point Loma started the second half with another run, this one 16-4 as the lead eventually grew to 40 points. PLNU would open the fourth quarter with a 9-2 push and maintained that margin to the 98-51 final, shooting 56 percent from the floor in the game.
Academy of Art moves to 12-8 overall and 8-4 PacWest with Saturday's result. Ware finished with a team-high 11 points and three assists, Simon added 10 points, and Orts finished with nine points plus seven rebounds. Brewster had seven points and six rebounds off the bench.
Point Loma improves to 10-1 at home with the victory, rises to 16-3 overall, and is now 10-2 in conference play. Roya Rustamzada came just two rebounds shy of a triple-double with 20 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds along with three blocks and three steals. PLNU's leading scorer Alex Brunk added 18 points.
ART U will now look ahead to a rematch with Holy Names this Thursday, Feb. 2 starting at 5:30 p.m. inside Kezar Pavilion.
