SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Academy of Art women's soccer closed out their 2017 season at Skyline college where they took on the likes of the Concordia Eagles. Despite a career-first goal for sophomore midfielder
Casey Childers in the second half, her score was not enough to combat the onslaught of CUI's offense. As a result, the Urban Knights took a 7-1 loss at the hands of Concordia in the season finale.
The Eagles took control of the match from the start, scoring their first goal in the ninth-minute. In the remaining 26 minutes of the first half, CUI added three more goals to enter the break with a 4-0 lead. Meanwhile, ART U took a pair of shots back-to-back in the 26th and 27th-minutes, but they were unable to score.
In the second period, the Eagles continued to rack up the goals, scoring once in the 49th-minute and again in the 71st. Nearly 17 minutes later, ART U got on the board when senior midfielder
Kendall Bozart sent in a cross from the right side to Childers who was waiting just in front of the goal. The Las Vegas native crossed up CUI's goalkeeper to score near the right post, giving the sophomore the first goal of her young-career. As the clock wound down, the Eagles managed to score once more in the final minute to solidify the win.
With the season now at and end, Academy of Art finishes with a 1-16-1 overall record and a 1-12 conference mark, placing 13th in the PacWest.
