SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art men's basketball (5-14, 4-9 PacWest) got off to a hot start in Thursday night's game, leading Holy Names (5-16, 4-10 PacWest) for the first 28 minutes. However, a late surge by the Hawks gave HNU a slight edge down the stretch which ART U could not overcome.

To open the first half, the Urban Knights went on a 9-0 run and forced Holy names to miss six-consecutive shots over the game's first four minutes. After HNU made a layup at the 15:48 mark, ART U quickly scored four more points to extend their opening run to 13-2. Freshman forward
Luka Radovic highlighted the streak, scoring seven of their first nine points. Radovic continued to put together a strong first half, eventually finishing the period with 13 points and four rebounds. After the Knights' opening stretch, the Hawks responded with a 6-0 run of their own, but ART U built their lead back up to 12 points (22-10) with under eight minutes remaining. HNU responded once again however, this time with an 11-3 run that cut the deficit to just four points. The Knights eventually ended the first half with a five-point, 27-22 lead and held the Hawks to a .333 field goal percentage.

Similar to the first half, Academy of Art began the second with a run that brought their lead back up to 11 points (35-24) with 17:22 to play in the game. Holy Names once again responded with a run of their own, only this time it did not fall short. A 16-5 stretch gave the Hawks a 40-39 advantage, and they found themselves in front for the first time in the game. The contest's remaining 12 minutes were tightly contest as the lead changed hands eight more times until HNU delivered the final blow with 3:37 on the clock. Despite a strong attempt by the Urban Knights to get back in front, they fell five points short at the final buzzer with the score at 57-52.

Despite the loss, three Knights scored double-digit figures in the affair. Radovic led the way with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Senior guard
Herman Pratt IV came up with 12 points (all in the second half) and three rebounds, while junior guard
Victor Nwaba contributed 11 points and five boards. As a team, Academy of Art forced 16 turnovers which resulted in 15 points.

The Urban Knights will now head out on their final road trip of the season with their first stop coming on Monday against Notre Dame de Namur at 7:30 p.m.
