SAN FRANCISCO -- Excellence as a habit, improvement every day, and working together will be the focal points for Academy of Art University women's basketball as first-year head coach
Camille Williams leads the Urban Knights into the 2018-19 season. This Friday, six returners and four newcomers unitedly step foot into their 2018-19 campaign.

In 2018-19, ART U will navigate a 28-game regular season slate that features opening matchups with Concordia (Nov. 9) and Western Oregon (Nov. 10) as part of the Cal State East Bay Veteran's Day Classic, non-conference pairings with teams from all around the West Region, and a collection of matchups with its own Pacific West Conference which sent two teams to the NCAA Division II Tournament last year. The Urban Knights' 2018-19 senior class features two returners in guards
Inga Kot and
Taloni Reese. Kot proved to be a dangerous long-range shooter as over 85 percent of her shots made were from distance in 2017-18. Reese, a transfer from the University of Evansville, redshirted last year and comes off an impressive rebounding effort
against NCAA Division I Santa Clara in the preseason.
ART U's junior class is its largest of the four with returners forward
Ines Medina and guard
Karleigh Joseph to play alongside incoming guards
Brianna Cates and
Josselyn Morris, transfers from Pima Community College and Arizona Western College respectively. Those juniors join a pair of returning sophomores, forward
Megan Jefferson and guard
Shyla Miller, as well. A new face enters the mix in the sophomore class as forward
Lily Perkins, the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary and El Camino League Most Valuable Player in each of her final two high school seasons, comes in from Eastern Washington University.
Guard
Chanel Stuart, the lone active freshman this year, comes to the Urban Knights from Brookside Christian High School where she was All-Delta League, an All-Star, MVP, and a two-time team captain. Already having a chance to display her talents, Stuart shot over 46 percent from the field in the team's two exhibitions with NCAA Division I opponents.
Academy of Art pens a new chapter in what will now be an 11-year history this Friday with the Veteran's Day Classic in Hayward.
