Belmont, Calif. -- In yet another game that came down to the final seconds, Academy of Art men's basketball took down Notre Dame de Namur 48-47 in Saturday afternoon's PacWest matchup.
"The guys simply found a way to make plays down th stretch," said head coach
Julius Barnes. "We've been in that situation several times this year, and they were determinded to see it through tonight. They're a resilient bunch and I'm proud of their efforts."
The win saw solid performances from multiple ART U players, but junior guard
Andrija Blatancic led the Knights with a career high 16 points while shooting an exceptional 8-10 from the field and collecting three rebounds.
From the opening whistle the game was close, and no team led by more than three, until a layup by senior guard
Zuri Williams put the Urban Knights up 18-12 with 7:14 left to play in the half.
Z. Williams also had a stand out performance in the victory over the Argonauts, finishing with eight points, four rebounds, and a team leading four assists.
ART U was consistent the rest of the first half and were able to jump ahead by ten, 25-15, after a layup by Blatancic with just 2:50 left in the half. However, the Argos kept it close, narrowing the gap to 25-23 with just over a minute left in the half.

Sophomore guard
Dante Williams provided ART U some breathing room heading into the half, after scoring back to back layups putting the Urban Knights up 29-25.
To open the second half, senior center
Cameron Niven scored on back to back possessions extending ART U's lead to eight.
After nearly two scoreless minutes, Academy of Art's lead was down to four, after a pair of free throws and a lay up by the Argonauts brought the game to 33-29.
Another layup by Blatancic extended the lead with 14:33 left to play, but multiple fouls sent NDNU to the line, and with just over 13 minutes to go ART U's lead was down to one, 35-34. Sophomore forward
Nick Conway entered the game, and sank a ball from beyond the arc for his first three-pointer of the year to keep the Knights ahead 38-34.
The lead would not last long as NDNU tied the game 40-40 after outscoring the Knights 6-2 with 6:15 left and took the lead 43-42 with just over four minutes remaining.

A shot from Niven brought the lead back up by one for ART U, but the Argonauts would not go down quietly, and tied the game with 3 minutes left to go. The scoring slowed and the game was tied until Blatancic capped off his career performance by scoring the final two shots for the Urban Knights solidifying the 48-47 victory over the Argonauts.
"I'm hopeful that this victory will inspire confidence," said Barnes. "We've been in so many closely contested games this year and to be able to find a way to win tonight was huge. Now the goal is to see if we can string a few together and continue to work towards our goal of competing for championships."
After the climactic victory, Academy of Art improves to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in conference. ART U will face Azusa Pacific, at home, in another conference match-up Wednesday, December 19.
