2018 All-PacWest Team
IRVINE, Calif. – Following Academy of Art baseball's most successful season, three Urban Knights have been named to the All-PacWest team, the second-most in the program's 10-year history.
Elijah Smith – All-PacWest Third Team
As ART U's primary second baseman, Smith played in all, but one game for the Knights this season. He also set the single-season, program record with seven triples which also led the PacWest. Speedy on the base paths, Smith also led the team with 10 stolen bases and finished the year with a .265 batting average and a .317 on-base percentage. This is his first All-PacWest recognition as 2018 was his first season at ART U.
Alex Fernandez – All-PacWest Third Team
In his senior campaign, left-hander
Alex Fernandez served as one of the Urban Knights' most effective starting pitchers. In fact, he posted the lowest earned run average of all starters on the team (2.86). In 11 starts, he tossed 66.0 innings pitched with a team-leading, 49 strikeouts and had one complete game. Fernandez only allowed two earned runs combined over his last four starts. This is also his first all-conference award.
Chris Rost – All-PacWest Third Team

Chris Rost collected his first All-PacWest award. Rost posted a 2.62 ERA in 12 appearances (34.1 innings pitched). He only allowed six extra base hits all year and averaged over one strikeout per inning (35 in total). The Dixon, Calif. native led the team's relievers in wins (3-1) and saves (two), while only conceding a .213 batting average against.
