Knights Outshine Sunbirds

SAN FRANCISCO -- In their most commanding win of the season, Academy of Art men's basketball took down Fresno Pacific 75-52 to end their six game home stand on a big win.

ART U put their shooting capabilities on display, averaging 49.1% from the field while holding the Sunbirds to just 34.1% from the field and a miniscule 18.8% from beyond the arc. An all around team win, Academy of Art had points from 10 different Knights including four players in double figures.

The Urban Knights dominated the boards, out-rebounding FPU 43-25 led by junior forward Andrija Blatancic's team high 11 rebounds. Blatancic complemented his 11 rebounds with a team leading 23 points for his fourth double-double of the season.

ART U started slow and found themselves down 11-4 with 14:54 left in the first half, but the Knights came back strong with a 6-2 run to bring the score within three. The run began after a defensive rebound by Blatancic led to a layup off the fast break.

While FPU maintained the lead for most of the first half, ART U kept the game close and a big layup from sophomore guard Dante Williams brought the game to 22-21 with 6:46 to play in the half.

Finally, following a 13-2 run ART U  took a six point lead. The run placed five different ART U players in the scoring column, and was topped off by a shot from inside the paint by D. Williams. The Urban Knights held the lead and headed into the locker room up 31-27.

The score sat 37-29 with 16:45 remaining, when ART U went on an 8-4 run, to extend their lead by 12. All eight points were scored by the Norwegian forward Blatancic.

ART U maintained the double digit margin  throughout the second half, and with a shot from beyond the arc by sophomore guard Stefan Milivojevic the score hit 60-39 with just under seven minutes to play. The sophomore guard ended the game with a solid 11 points, four rebounds, and a steal.

ART U held off the Sunbirds the remainder of the half, and coasted to their most lopsided win of the season 75-52 vaulting the Urban Knights past FPU in the PacWest standings.
