ART U Offense Overpowers Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- In a game that came down to the wire Academy of Art men's basketball put up a season high in points to earn an 81-78 victory against Dominican.

The win saw huge scoring performances from multiple ART U players, including three in double digits, two career highs, and a double-double.

A big three-pointer from sophomore guard Stefan Milivojevic put the Knights up 5-2 early in the first half. Milivojevic was deadly from deep, shooting a sterling 3-4 from beyond the arc. The sophomore guard finished as the second highest ART U scorer with 18 points for his second straight game with double figures. Senior guard Cobe Williams came in third for ART U scoring, with a solid 11 points while contributing two assists and a steal.

The teams traded points but neither lead by more than three until junior forward Andrija Blatancic sank a three-pointer.

Blatancic put together yet another double-double, ending the night with a career high 33 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. His 19.3 points per game leads Academy of Art and is second highest across the entire PacWest conference.

ART U had the lead 17-13 with just under 14 minutes left in the first half, and the shootout continued. The Penguins brought the score within one, but back-to-back jumpers by junior forward Lake Del Mar extended the Knights lead 23-19 with 9:40 left to play. Del Mar walked finished with a career high nine points and two rebounds while shooting an exceptional 4-5 from the field.


DUC battled back, and with a buzzer beater three pointer sent ART U into the locker room down 39-38.

The Knights continued to trail in the second half, but not by more than five points through the first 10 minutes.

Another layup by Del Mar tied the game at 57 with 10:37 left and sparked a 13-0 run by Academy of Art.

The Penguins chiseled at ART U's lead and brought the game to 76-72 with just under two minutes. But, despite a last second layup by Dominican, the Urban Knights came away with a season points in their 81-78 victory over the Penguins.
As a team, Academy of Art shot a solid 51.9% from the field and an outrageous 53.8% from beyond the arc - their highest three-point percentage of the season.

ART U improves to 5-5 in conference and 5-10 overall, heading into their next away game at Holy Names. Academy of Art will cross the Bay Bridge to face the Hawks Saturday, Jan 19 at 6 p.m.
