SAN FRANCISCO -- In the final home game of the year at Kezar Pavilion on senior night, the five seniors:
Brenden Otero,
Cameron Niven,
Cole Morgan,
Kiel Long, and
Cobe Williams were honored before the game for their hard work and dedication to the program. And what better way to send the seniors out then on a 61-48 win in which all five Academy of Art men's basketball seniors scored.
The Urban Knights started the game with some high intensity offense that began with a 3-pointer by C. Williams to give ART U an early lead. C. Williams made career moves by scoring his 105th 3-pointer to tie the programs all-time 3-pointers record. The senior guard from Pismo Beach finished the night with 14 points shooting 4-of-8 from the field, and 3-of-7 from long range.
ART U extended their lead 12-3 after junior forward
Andrija Blatancic scored in four consecutive possessions. Blatancic did what he does and scored a team leading 21 points and 10 rebounds for his sixth double double of the season. After a small run from the Argos, the Knights came back and outscored NDNU 10-2, to take a 26-14 lead into halftime.
In the second half ART U's lead jumped to 15 after sophomore guard Stefan Milivojevic drained a shot from beyond the arc, with 13:47 minutes to play. The Argonauts vied to get back into the game, but ART U kept a steady double-digit lead for the remainder of the night. The last three Urban Knights to score were all seniors and ART U secured a 61-48 win over NDNU to bring them one step closer to the PacWest Championship. Â
The victory brings ART U's overall record to 10-15 and their conference record to 10-10 placing them in sixth which would give them a berth to the tournament. ART U will depart on their final road trip of the year, starting with Azusa Pacific, Thursday, Feb 28 and Biola March 2.
