URBAN KNIGHTS SET FOR REMATCHES IN HAWAII

Coming off its lone home game since Jan. 12, Academy of Art women's basketball remains on the road for three more contests, traveling to Hawaii to face three Pacific West Conference opponents whom ART U met a little more than one month ago.

OPENING TIP
In their only out-of-state roadtrip this season, the Urban Knights start on the Island of Hawaii matched up with UH Hilo at 5 p.m. HT (7 p.m. PT) inside the Vulcans' Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 8. Two days later on Sunday, Feb. 10, ART U plays the first of two contests in Honolulu, first getting a second look at Hawaii Pacific at Moanalua High School with tip-off set for 1 p.m. HT (3 p.m. PT). The trip concludes on Tuesday, Feb. 12 with a 5:30 p.m. HT (7:30 p.m. PT) start inside McCabe Gymnasium versus Chaminade. Live coverage will be available via the links above. KNIGHT WATCH
19266A season-high 26 offensive rebounds versus Dominican on Feb. 1 pushed Academy of Art's season average (15.9) further into the lead in the PacWest as well as up to 15th in NCAA Division II). With 12 steals in her last four games, freshman guard Chanel Stuart ranks fourth in the conference (2.6 thefts per game) and, when combined with sophomore forward Lily Perkins' 2.0 steals per contest (sixth in PacWest), contributes to ART U's 9.17 steals per game as a team (third in PacWest). Behind the team's leading scorer junior guard Brianna Cates (15.9 points per game, eighth in PacWest), Perkins is averaging 12.3 points per contest and Stuart checks in at 11.4 points per game. Junior forward Ines Medina has now recorded nine rebounds or more in each of her last three games and comes in with the fifth-highest average in the PacWest (8.6). With 108 offensive rebounds in her career, she needs just four more to crack the program's top 10 and remains four blocks away from that top 10.

HELLO HILO
One of four teams with three PacWest victories and on the outside of PacWest Tournament qualification, UH Hilo returned home after falling to Academy of Art 64-52 in San Francisco on Jan. 4, but what had been a four-game losing streak soon became eight games. The Vulcans broke out of it by topping Notre Dame de Namur and then Biola most recently to set them up for Friday's rematch with ART U. The conference's rebounding leader (9.7 per game), Allie Navarette has settled into the second spot among PacWest scorers at 18.8 points per game and she was the main producer in the previous matchup with the Knights, scoring 20 points with 14 rebounds. The victory earlier this season gave Academy of Art a 7-6 advantage over UH Hilo in the all-time series.

SHARKS CHOMPING AT THE BIT
At 14-2 in conference, Hawaii Pacific joins three other PacWest teams with clinched spots for the PacWest Tournament. The Sharks defeated Academy of Art on Dec. 31 in San Francisco then fell to Dominican two days later, but then rattled off nine consecutive victories before a 97-86 result hosting Dominican most recently on Feb. 6. HPU ranks first in the conference in scoring defense (allowing opponents only 61.1 points per game), three-point field goals made (7.8 per game), and free throw percentage (75.4 percent). The only PacWest team with three players among the conference's top 15 scorers, Hawaii Pacific is led by Alysha Marcucci (14.5 ppg), Samantha Lambrigsten (14.0 ppg), and Breanna Mackenzie (14.0 ppg). In 17 previous meetings, the Sharks hold a 12-5 all-time advantage over ART U.

SILVER SURFING
Along with UH Hilo, Chaminade has three PacWest victories with only one of those coming since the Jan. 2 win over Academy of Art. The Silverswords topped Holy Names six days later, but entered into a six-game losing streak that has spanned Jan. 10 to Feb. 4. CUH will face Dominican on Feb. 8 before its Feb. 12 rematch with the Knights. Destiny Castro leads the Silverswords offensively at 18.7 points per game while also adding a PacWest-best 3.2 steals per contest. Chaminade's victory earlier in this season was its first in 17 previous matchups versus ART U, bringing the Urban Knights' all-time record with the Silverswords to 16-1.

FOUR KNIGHTS SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES IN LOSS TO PENGUINS
Up against a Dominican team that was on fire out of the gate, Academy of Art women's basketball could not recover from an impressive first quarter by the Penguins, ultimately dropping a 116-78 Pacific West Conference decision on Feb. 1 inside Kezar Pavilion.

LOOKING AHEAD
When Academy of Art returns to the Bay Area, two final home games await. The first will be against Holy Names on Sunday, Feb. 17 and that is followed by Senior Night hosting Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday, Feb. 21.
