SAN FRANCISCO -- Academy of Art women's tennis wrapped up their regular season, Friday afternoon at Bay Club SF Tennis, with an absolutely dominant 7-0 complete sweep of Holy Names.
Seniors
Alma Thell-Lenntorp and
Klara Thell-Lenntorp set the tone with the first win of the day, a 6-1 trounce of Jahan Bayramova and Dominique Ernst to improve their record to 13-2. Junior
Mariacristina Andrisani and freshman
Sofia Ragona sent their winning streak to seven with a 6-2 win against Anna Hoerter and Macy Barajas that clinched the doubles point. Playing out both formats, seniors
Paula Alcantara and
Taisiia Andrieieva completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 triumph.
Alcantara brought the momentum into singles and cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win to give ART U a 2-0 advantage. The senior from Spain did not lose a singles match in April and is on a four match winning streak. Andrisani continued the singles shutout with another 6-0, 6-0 match over Eilis Work. K. Thell-Lenntorp was the deciding point, winning a 6-2, 6-0 match in the top position for the team clinch. ART U played out the remainder of the singles matches, winning the rest to solidify the complete 7-0 sweep.
After the strong win over HNU, the Urban Knights end their regular season on a four match winning streak and a 12-4 record. ART U will look ahead to PacWest Championship Tournament starting April 17th in Surprise, Arizona.
