SAN FRANCISCO -- Academy of Art University Athletics and director of athletics
Brad Jones have announced
Austin Carrow will assume the department's role as assistant athletics director of academics & admissions liaison. A familiar face, Carrow has worked as an undergraduate student services adviser at Academy of Art since the summer of 2018.
"We are pleased to announce the addition of
Austin Carrow to the athletic department staff," said Jones. "Austin has a great understanding of the Academy of Art's academic curriculum and programs. His experiences as a former student-athlete enable him to connect with and counsel current student-athletes as they strive to balance their academics and athletic responsibilities."
Coming to ART U in July 2018, Carrow embraced his responsibility of guiding new and continuing students through the university's academic programs. Developing an in-depth understanding of policies and procedures, he assisted students by monitoring absence reports and academic progress while also informing about resources.
"The Academy of Art University provides student-athletes with a unique opportunity to achieve academic, personal, professionally and athletic success," said Carrow. "I am excited to contribute to this success through collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and coaches."
Prior to his time at ART U, Carrow could be found collaborating with students, faculty, staff, and external community partners as a substitute academic faculty at Swing Education in San Francisco starting August 2017. He also spent two years with the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows as a teen aid/program implementation facilitator.
A five-year scholar-athlete, Carrow played for the University of Nevada, Reno football team and received both his bachelor's degree in Community Health Sciences as well as his master's degree in Educational Leadership from Nevada. A three-sport student-athlete out of Novato High School (football, lacrosse, wrestling), Carrow played in all but one game for the Wolf Pack over the course of the 2015 and 2016 seasons, playing a key role for the rushing offense as a tight end.
