Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

#6 Cougars Too Much For Urban Knights

AZUSA, Calif. –The Academy of Art men's basketball team couldn't contain No. 6 Azusa Pacific in a Pacific West Conference matchup despite shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc, dropping the contest by a final of 98-69.

A 3-pointer from junior guard Joshua Bagley put the Urban Knights (10-16, 8-11 PacWest) up by one early on in the game, but that would be the last lead that ART U would have over the Cougars (22-3, 17-2 PacWest). After setting records for shooting percentage in the last two games, the Urban Knights dipped below their season average at 39.7 percent for the game. A one-point game at the eight minute mark, a 14-3 run would give APU a double-digit lead heading into the half, 43-29.

The Cougars wouldn't let up in the second frame, knocking down 60.6 percent of their shots as they protected their lead. Eight of their buckets came from downtown, as the game would get no closer than 10 points as APU would cruise to the finish line.

Junior forward Josh Hill is back to his double-double streak, getting his second in a row by finishing with 15 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, beating his mark of 14 that he has done twice, the last coming on Feb. 6 against FPU. Coming in just below his season average was junior guard Stefan Milivojevic, as he ended the game with 17 points and three boards. Going a perfect 3-for-3 from deep was junior guard Joshua Bagley, as he totaled 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting.

All 12 Cougars would score points with five hitting double-figures, led by Jake Spurgeon with 19 on 7-for-10 shooting. Noah Bundrant was 4-for-5 from the field for 11 points, while Terrence Becvar chipped in 16 off the bench.

The Urban Knights will return to the court on Saturday at 5 p.m. when they take on the Eagles of Concordia.
