2019-20 NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A trio of Academy of Art men's basketball student-athletes have been recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, as Luka Radovic, Victor Ruiz de Carranza and Dante Williams have been named to the 2019-20 Honors Court.
 
"Congratulations to Victor, Dante and Luka on their success in the classroom," said head coach Scott Waterman. "In our program, the only place we talk about being selfish is in the classroom, and these three young men have definitely done that. They also helped to spearhead the success of our entire team in the classroom as we finished with over a 3.0 GPA for the spring semester."
 
To be eligible for the Honors Court, student-athletes must be either a junior or senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and at least one year at their current institution.

For the Urban Knights, leading the trio that were honored was Radovic with a cumulative 3.585 in the School of Architecture. This season, Radovic appeared in 29 games, averaging 11.4 minutes and 3.0 points per game, and was selected to the 2019-20 Academic All-PacWest for the second time in his career.
 
In the School of Communications & Media Technologies, Williams has totaled a 3.254 GPA while Ruiz de Carranza finished just behind that at 3.234. Like Radovic, both Williams and Ruiz de Carranza were named 2019-20 Academic All-PacWest for the second consecutive season. Ruiz de Carranza was the second leading rebounder on the team in 2019-20 (minimum of 10 games played), averaging 6.5 boards per game to go with a 43.8 shooting percentage. Williams appeared in 30 games this season, averaging 6.4 points per game on 48.1 percent shooting from the field.
 
"I want to congratulate Victor on his graduation and know he will thrive in the next steps of his career," said Waterman. "With Dante and Luka on track to graduate next spring, I look forward to seeing them walk across that stage and get their diplomas."
