Outstanding First Week Earns Lovett PacWest Weekly Award

PacWest Conference Weekly Awards (Jan. 25)

IRVINE, Calif. –
After dropping a game-high 26 points in his Academy of Art men's basketball debut, junior guard Jalen Lovett was named the Pacific West Conference Northern California Player of the Week. The award is for games played from Jan. 18-24.

Lovett was one of the driving offensive forces in a 1-1 opening week for the Urban Knights, totaling 38 points over two games on 15-for-36 shooting from the floor with a trio of 3-pointers. Getting his first career start at ART U on in the season opener against the Penguins on Friday, Lovett showed out with 26 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the floor and made his presence felt on defense with three steals and a block. The following evening in ART U's 26-point comeback victory over the Penguins, Lovett chipped in 12 points to go with another pair of steals, four rebounds and a block.

This is the first PacWest Weekly award for Lovett in his career, and the first for the Urban Knights in 2020-21.
