Krupa’s Hustle Leads Her To PacWest Defender of the Week

PacWest Weekly Awards (Nov. 22)

IRVINE, Calif. – Stuffing the stat sheet in all three games for Academy of Art women's basketball this past week, graduate student guard Joy Krupa was named PacWest Defender of the Week. Krupa averaged 2.6 steals, 2.3 blocks, and 5.7 defensive rebounds per game and remains among the Pacific West Conference's top two in both blocks and steals per game. The award is for games played from Nov. 15-21.

Krupa started the week with her second straight game posting four blocks to go with one steal, seven defensive rebounds, and three fouls drawn in ART U's 59-56 overtime win over Simon Fraser on Nov. 15. To start the Warrior Classic against Cal State East Bay on Nov. 19 in Turlock, the Advertising major tied her season-high with four steals plus one block, six defensive rebounds, and two fouls drawn. Krupa then ended the three-game week with three steals, two blocks, four defensive rebounds, and another two fouls drawn in a Nov. 20 matchup with Stanislaus State.

On the season, Krupa continues to lead the PacWest in blocks per game (2.8) while also ranking second in steals per game (3.0) and sixth in rebounds per game (9.5).

This is the first PacWest weekly honor for Academy of Art women's basketball this season as well as the first in Krupa's career.
