PacWest Weekly Awards (Dec. 6)
IRVINE, Calif. – For the second time this season, Academy of Art men's basketball has earned a Pacific West Conference weekly honor, as graduate student guard
Joshua Bagley has been named the PacWest Defender of the Week after he came up with four steals during ART U's
91-71 PacWest-opening win against Dominican on last Saturday. The award is for games played from Nov. 29-Dec. 5.
One of the main forces behind the defensive intensity during the win for ART U was Bagley, as he came up with a career-high four steals while the Urban Knights clamped down to preserve their first conference win of the season. Bagley helped set the tone on a night where Academy of Art would set their season-highs in steals (14) and blocks (6), while also ending just two off their season-high of forced turnovers (23; best:
25, 11/14/21 vs SSU), ultimately leading to the Knights dominating in points off turnovers (38-15). Additionally, he reached double-figures in scoring with 11 points while also chipping in five assists.
It is the first PacWest weekly honor in Bagley's career, and he joins redshirt junior guard
Christian Popoola Jr. as the other Urban Knight to be named the PacWest Defender of the Week this season, as Popoola Jr. earned the recognition on
Nov. 15 after ART U began the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
