FRESNO, Calif. -- Coming down to the final singles match, Saturday's women's tennis match between Academy of Art and No. 24 Fresno Pacific was a see-saw battle that the Urban Knights ultimately won 4-3 on the road at Haak Tennis Complex.
ART U faced an early deficit after the Sunbirds took the doubles point by way of victories at the first and second positions despite freshmen
Erica Hellbe and
Aitana Comas Adam defeating Alice Marques and Daimy Paula 6-4 in the third slot.
In a battle of two ranked singles competitors, No. 47 sophomore
Sofia Ragona put away No. 32 Leah Falentin 6-4, 6-1 before Comas Adam's 6-2, 6-3 victory over Marques in the fourth spot got the Urban Knights in front 2-1. FPU responded by evening things up with a win at the third position then adding another in the fourth to retake the lead 3-2. Freshman
Julia Ortega then pushed past Paula 6-1, 7-5 in the sixth slot to set up a winner-take-all situation for the matchup of sophomore
