2022 Stanford Invitational Results (Day 1)
2022 Mike Fanelli Track Classic Results (Day 2)
From the morning into the early evening, it was a busy day for Academy of Art track & field across the start of the Stanford Invitational at Cobb Track & Angel Field as well as the second day of the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at SF State's Cox Stadium.
STANFORD, Calif. – Urban Knights competing in sprints, hurdles, and jumps contested their events at the Stanford Invitational on Friday with
Marie-Jeanne Ourega rising to the top spot in NCAA Division II in both the 100m hurdles and long jump.
Ourega started the day by qualifying through to the 100mH final after taking third with a 13.90 in the prelims behind only Stanford's Allie Jones and Cal's Jada Hicks. She repeated her placement back of that duo in the final, but did so with a time of 13.75 which matched her personal record and the time that earned her fifth overall at Outdoor Nationals last season. In 2022, it was strong enough to take her to No. 1 the nation as a provisional qualifier for Nationals.
Additionally, Ourega was once again dominant in the long jump. She finished nearly a full foot ahead of the next closest competitor after she delivered her best mark of the season at 21-1.25 (6.43m) in her second attempt. In addition to leading the 11-jumper field, the Communications & Media Technologies major took over the first position in the country by almost a full foot as well.

Two Urban Knights were in action in two different long jump events as
Yacouba Gnacko was in the collegiate version and
Mathieu Tshani was in the invitational alongside Ourega. The morning session saw Gnacko take his first long jump attempts of his Academy of Art career, the fourth of which took him 23-6.25 (7.17m) to eventually win the event. He was first of 14 (seven of whom were from NCAA DI institutions). Tshani consistently jumped past 21-11 (6.68m) in all six of his attempts with his best, 23-3.5 (7.10m), settling him at eighth of 13.
Beyond the horizontal,
Daniel Cortes Gonzalez and
Elijah Roberts were both simultaneously in action in the high jump. After starting strong with a clearance of 6-4.75 (1.95m) to better his mark from two weeks ago, Cortes Gonzalez came through in the clutch making it over 6-6.75 (2.00m) on his final attempt to end tied with James Stevens of Stanford. With his own clearance of 6-4.75 (1.95m), Roberts was able to best his previous best with ART U and elevated into second in program history.
Running next to one another in the same heat,
Shareez Hamm and
Duncan Agyemang each had their first opportunity to contest the 400m hurdles on Saturday. Hamm would lead the way with an Outdoor Nationals provisional at 53.27 in sixth of 19 while Agyemang placed eighth with the fourth-fastest mark in Academy of Art history at 54.07.
Selena Arjona-Alcazar emerged eighth from the prelims of the women's 100m at 11.82 then took sixth in the final with an 11.86 mark. Though they did not reach the final, both
Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye (12.07) and
Darria Matthias (12.09) were in the event's upper tier, finishing 11th and 12th respectively. On the men's side of the 100m,
Daquan Berry placed 10th of 31 with a time of 10.71, just missing qualification for the event final by 0.01.
Minkue Meye would return to place ninth of 34 in the 400m at 56.65, going a fraction of a second faster than a debuting
Alisha Wilson at 56.72. It was a ninth-place finish for
Makarios Page whose 47.99 time had him inside the top third of the 400m.
SAN FRANCISCO – The ART U distance crew had a brief morning session to continue the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Friday.
In her first 1500m of the season,
Delanie Dykes put herself fifth in program history with a time of 4:35.21 to take ninth overall out of 94 competitors. Three seconds from the Outdoor Nationals provisional standard, she was followed by
Lina Hanich, who won her heat, in 16th at 4:40.70.
The men's version of the 1500m saw
Abdelouakil Mustapha also win his heat, doing so by less than a second with a 3:59.62 mark that put him 24th of 90 overall.
Academy of Art will conclude both the Stanford Invitational and Mike Fanelli Track Classic tomorrow.
