2022 Mt. SAC Relays Results (Collegiate)
WALNUT, Calif. – Both the Academy of Art track & field men's and women's 4x100m relay teams took center stage on Saturday, placing among the country's top tier as NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals qualifiers to conclude the Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
On the women's side, the quartet of
Marie-Jeanne Ourega,
Darria Matthias,
Ombretta Picciolie Minkue Meye, and
Selena Arjona-Alcazar bettered their season-best at 45.64 for fourth in NCAA DII. The Urban Knights placed ahead of Pitt State, who ranked third coming in, and were just 0.43 from Academy of Art's fifth-fastest time historically.
The best mark of the season also came on the men's side as
Shareez Hamm,
Daquan Berry,
Duncan Agyemang, and
Ajani Ince combined for a time of 40.59. The performance ahead of NCAA DI programs like UC Davis and Cal State Northridge took ART U up over 10 spots into a tie for 11th in the nation and was just less than one-tenth of a second from the top five in program history.
In an elite field that featured professional long jump athletes like Olympian Tara Davis, Ourega put forth her best mark of the day, 20-1.5 (6.13m), in her fifth attempt to finish fourth behind Texas Tech's Monae' Nichols, Davis, and Jasmine Todd.
The month of April will conclude with Academy of Art competing in the Pacific West Conference Championships hosted by Point Loma in San Diego on Apr. 29-30.
