2021-22 WBCA Academic Team Awards
ATLANTA -- In a Wednesday announcement by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, Academy of Art University women's basketball exemplified the "Be Artist. Be Athlete." mantra as the Urban Knights were awarded Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Team Special Mention for their collective academic success this past year.

The WBCA's announcement of its Academic Top 25 recognized NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. This year's release also marked the first year in which all teams that qualified for the top 25 rankings with the minimum 3.0 GPA also are recognized for their academic accomplishment. There were a total of 79 NCAA DII teams honored by the WBCA.
While collectively posting a 3.04 GPA as a team, Academy of Art marked its 2021-22 campaign, the program's best in the last six years, with tenacious defense, balanced offense, and a determination to triumph on the court. Following a strong start in which the Urban Knights began Pacific West Conference play 7-2, Academy of Art picked up significant momentum with a seven-game win streak that carried ART U through the end of the regular season and into the PacWest Championship Tournament title game. Ultimately, Academy of Art made its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and celebrated a truly resurgent campaign. To read more about what the Urban Knights achieved this season,
