ART U Challenges Westmont For First Time, Warriors Win

MONTECITO, Calif. – Academy of Art men's soccer fought valiantly, battling Westmont through a scoreless 44 minutes, but the Urban Knights ended up falling 3-0 on Monday afternoon at Thorrington Field.

In the first 44 minutes of the match, both sides remained scoreless with four shots total between the two squads. Within the final seconds of the half, howeverm Braeden Pryor found space and knocked in his first goal of the match in unassisted fashion to give his team the lead headed into the break now up 1-0.

More shots from both teams would go back and forth between ART U and Westmont throughout the second half including one from redshirt sophomore midfielder Elvis Mensah, but another score wasn't found until Michael Stull sent a pass over to Pryor to knock in his second goal of the afternoon. Pryor soon recorded a hat trick just three minutes later for a wide-open tap-in, created by Stull once again. Senior midfielder/forward Gilly Miller would get three more shots off before the final whistle, but wasn't able to find the back of the net. The Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media major's last shot in the 86th minute was just inches away of the left post, but ended up wide.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaiden Brooks brought in one save against the Warriors and still ranks amongst the leaders in the PacWest Conference in saves per game (third place), with his 4.29 per game average with two matches left of their season.

After the loss, Academy of Art falls to 2-10-4 overall and 2-5-1 in conference. ART U will continue its road trip as they head to Point Loma to challenge the Sea Lions on Thursday, Nov. 2, starting at 1 p.m. at PLNU Soccer Field.
