Women's Soccer Watches Late Goals From Eagles Steal Match

SAN FRANCISCO – While Academy of Art women's soccer kept Biola off the scoreboard for nearly 70 minutes, ART U could not keep up with the Eagles on Thursday as a duo of late second half goals powered BU to a 2-0 victory.

The Urban Knights did well to hold Biola scoreless throughout the duration of the first half, as they disallowed 13 shots to find the net while graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples collected seven saves in the opening frame, including five in the first 15 minutes. The Knights would end up entering the half in a scoreless draw.

ART U came out of the break managing to get off the first shot of the second half, as freshman midfielder Zeena Grewal took a strike in the 49th minute, but Autum Monty was there to make the save in net for the Eagles. Sophomore midfielder Kara Aradóttir attempted one of her own a few minutes later, but it would fall just off target. Sophomore forward Jade Alverio would see a shot get off in the 68th minute, but it would be Biola's fourth and fifth shots of the half that got through, as Marije Rechin put it away in the 70th minute, while Peyton Nelson scored the second in the 75th. There was 15 more minutes that would pass by without a shot from either side as they match would conclude with a 2-0 final score.

Adding to her seven first half saves, Peoples finished the match off with 11 total, which ties her season-high.

The Urban Knights can look forward to a week of rest before returning to the pitch, as they will visit Dominican on Thursday, Oct. 17 with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff before they are back at home for three-straight matches.
