WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT DAY, SENIOR DAY COMPLETE 2023-24 CAMPAIGN

Set to host Biola and Point Loma for its last two games of the season, Academy of Art women's basketball will close out the year in front of its home crowd with Women's Empowerment Day coming up on Thursday followed by a celebration of senior guard Ashana Hinds, graduate student guard Briana Baker-Bruce, and graduate student guard Emilia Dougherty on Senior Day this Saturday.

TIP-OFF
Returning to Laney College Gym one final time, ART U plays host to Biola on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 5 p.m. Two days later on Saturday, Mar. 2, the Urban Knights match up with Point Loma with a 1 p.m. tip-off from SF State's Main Gymnasium. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App StoreGoogle Play Store) and on Twitter & Instagramas well as "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

In addition to Feb. 29 being Women's Empowerment Day, ART U women's basketball will offer their Athletes Backing Athletes game, with student-athletes from other on-campus teams coming out to support their fellow Urban Knights. A Fan Bus will depart 620 Sutter at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

KNIGHT WATCH
Christy Ojide & TeamApproaching the final week of the regular season still ranked third in the conference at 3.3 blocks per game, Academy of Art has continued to be led offensively by sophomore guard Alba Rovira Ayuso who is third in the PacWest at 13.5 points per contest while making 1.7 3-pointers per game (third in PacWest). Meanwhile, freshman guard Maddie Morrow sits just behind her teammate at 1.6 triples made per contest (fourth in PacWest). Morrow is one of five Urban Knights averaging 6.5 points or more per game as freshman guard Lucia Revenga checks in at second on the squad at 9.4 points per contest. She adds multiple steals in six of her last eight games to remain atop the conference with a 2.3 thefts per game average.

Junior forward/center Christy Ojide can be found fourth in the PacWest in blocks per game (1.2) as she continues to build on the program's career record (currently 85) while contributing the sixth-highest rebounds per game average (6.8) in the PacWest.

EXAMINING THE EAGLES
Playing 15 games since its December meeting with ART U, Biola has gone 8-7 in that time with a three-game losing streak followed by a 3-1 stretch most recently. The Eagles, who have yet to clinch a berth in the PacWest Championship Tournament, are right on the verge of reaching the postseason in the fifth spot in the conference standings at 10-8. For a BU team that allows the lowest opposing field goal percentage (.332) and second-fewest points to opponents in the PacWest (58.2), Jordan Rabe is the leader both offensively (10.8 points per game, 16th in PacWest) and in rebounding (7.2 per game, third in PacWest). Though the Knights had won four straight against Biola coming into this season, the latest victory put BU up 5-4 in the all-time matchup.

ON POINT
With eight wins in its last nine games (including one over ART U on Feb. 3), Point Loma has ensured a spot in the PacWest Championship Tournament and potentially even a first-round bye as the Sea Lions' 12-6 record in the third position is just off second-place Fresno Pacific's 13-5 record. PLNU will face Dominican this Thursday prior to ending the regular season at Academy of Art and the team has succeeded primarily thanks to a .426 field goal percentage which leads the conference. Tavia Rowell paces Point Loma with 14.6 points per game (second in PacWest) while Ellie Turk adds 4.0 assists per contest (second in PacWest) and former Urban Knight Alyssa Munn is just off Revenga for the top steals spot at 2.2 per game thus far. After splitting their last six matchups, the historical series favors PLNU 12-9 over Academy of Art.

HOT START PUSHES FPU TO PACWEST VICTORY HOSTING KNIGHTS
After steadily building a nine-point lead by the end of the first quarter and almost doubling that margin by halftime, Fresno Pacific saw its advantage cut nearly in half after Academy of Art women's basketball came back with a 7-1 run in the third. Despite the Urban Knights shooting over 53 percent from the field in that frame, the Feb. 24 Pacific West Conference win went to the Sunbirds 79-57 inside their own Special Events Center.
