SAN FRANCISCO – Hungry to create more program history once again, Academy of Art men's basketball Head Coach
Scott Waterman and his staff have announced the addition of six student-athletes to comprise the 2024-25 recruiting class. Joining ART U in the fall semester will be Robbie Armbrester (Atlanta/Texas A&M Commerce), KJ Dunn (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler Gilbert CC), Bryce Moore (Chicago/Midland College), Damarcies Moore (Chicago/Richard J. Daley College), Jaden Witter-Watts (Toronto, Canada/Gillette College), and Montez Young Jr. (Waxahachie, Tex./University of Texas Arlington).

"Coming off our first Pacific West Conference Regular Season Championship, our staff has addressed the departure of some key players from last season, and we are extremely excited about the addition of these six student-athletes to our program," Waterman said. "They are not only great players on the court but are going to help us continue to build a strong ART U basketball culture. With an established group of returners, each member of the incoming class fits a specific need to help us build upon our successes over the past three seasons. I cannot wait to get back to work with fall workouts starting in September and look forward to continuing to thrive in both non-conference and PacWest games during the 2024-2025 season."
Robbie Armbrester (Atlanta/Texas A&M Commerce)
Armbrester comes to ART U as an athletic junior after most recently being a part of a Texas A&M Commerce team as a redshirt before previously competing at the NCAA Division I level with both Stephen F. Austin and the University of Houston. At SFA in 2022-23, Armbrester appeared in 22 games total while playing in 269 minutes and shot 44.0 percent from the field in his lone season with the Lumberjacks while he contributed to a 19-13 overall team. Armbrester's best game at SFA came from a 12-point and six-rebound performance against Utah Tech.

During his season with UH, the Atlanta native appeared in 16 contests while knocking down 61.5 percent of his shots, with his best shooting performance coming against Bryant where he went a perfect 3-for-3 from the field. Armbrester and his squad surged to a 32-6 overall record in 2021-22 and earned an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA DI Tournament.

Armbrester will enroll in the Academy of Art School of Communications & Media Technologies.
KJ Dunn (Gilbert, Ariz./Chandler Gilbert CC)
Entering ART U as an athletic sophomore, Dunn derives from Chandler Gilbert Community College where he played as a forward with the Coyotes for one season. Dunn's squad secured 27 wins this past campaign, a program record, and finished the year as ACCAC Regular Season Champions. The native of Gilbert, Ariz. came off the bench to average the fourth-most points per game on the squad (10.4) in 21.4 minutes per game as he contributed 5.9 rebounds per contest as well. Being the most consistent shooter on the squad throughout the duration of the entire season, Dunn led his team in shooting percentage as he knocked down 54.2 percent of his shots.

After Dunn's impressive season, he was named to the All-ACCAC Division II Second Team while additionally earning All-Region Division II Second Team honors as well.

Upon his arrival at Academy of Art, the sophomore will enroll in the School of Industrial Design.

Bryce Moore (Chicago/Midland College)
Moore joins the Knights' squad as an athletic junior after a one-year stint at Midland College where he put up 7.3 points per game with the Chaparrals and helped the team deliver a 20-10 record on the year. While Moore appeared in 28 contests over the course of the campaign, he started in 15 while competing in 15.9 minutes per game. The native of Chicago knocked down 43.4 percent of his shots with the squad as he drained 78.9 percent of his free throws, the second highest on the team. Moore dropped his career-high in points towards the end of his most recent season, as he put up 20 on New Mexico Junior College.

Upon his arrival at Academy of Art, the Chicago native will enroll in the School of Communications & Media Technologies.
Damarcies Moore (Chicago/Richard J. Daley College)
Moore comes to ART U after most recently attending Richard J. Daley College where he played for the Bulldogs in 2023-24. In his lone season at
Daley, Moore led his team in points per game with 14.5 per contest while he collected 7.4 rebounds a game and averaged 2.4 assists through 27 games played. Starting in 26, Moore broke out on numerous occasions throughout the campaign, including a season-high 31-point performance against Sauk Valley Community College.

Moore's accolades include being named the City Colleges of Chicago Male Athlete of the Week on two occasions this past season as well as earning NJCAA Region 4 Second Team honors. Moore additionally received All-Tournament Team honors his prior year when he competed with the Mott Bears.

Moore will join the School of Communications & Media Technologies upon his arrival at Academy of Art.
Jaden Witter-Watts (Toronto, Canada/Gillette College)
Entering ART U as an athletic junior, Witter-Watts joins the Knights after competing with Gillette College in 2023-24 and with Eastern Florida in 2022-23. Most recently playing at the NJCAA Division I level at Gillette, the native of Canada led his team in scoring putting up 16.6 points per game on 48.5 percent shooting from the field, 40.5 percent from three-point range, and 74.8 percent from the free throw line. Playing in 28 games last season, Witter-Watts additionally passed the rock around over the course of 22.6 minutes per game, as he also averaged a team-high 4.8 assists per contest. The incoming junior's impressive season leading his squad to a 27-5 record earned himself First Team All-Conference.

Witter-Watts played an additional 28 games in his collegiate career at EFSC and earned Second Team All-Conference. While he was out on the court for 20.7 minutes a game, Witter-Watts shot 40.9 percent from the field and helped his team earn a 22-10 record in 2022-23.

Montez Young Jr. (Waxahachie, Tex./UT Arlington)
Young Jr. joins the squad as an athletic junior coming off two years at NCAA Division I UT Arlington where he played in 55 games between 2021-2023. The Texas native put up 161 points for his team over those two seasons while he shot 50.7 percent from the field. Young Jr. put up his career-high in points his last season with UTA as he dropped 14 points against UT Rio Grande Valley going 5-7 from the floor while he put up a season-high nine rebounds.

For a short four-game stint in the 2023-24 season, Young Jr. briefly competed with Texas Wesleyan before he decided to redshirt, where he showed what he could do for the Rams including a perfect 8-for-8 shooting performance, leading the team in scoring as he dropped 16 points in his first game with the squad.

Young Jr. will enroll in the School of Communications & Media Technologies at Academy of Art this fall.
