ROCKLIN, Calif. – Led by 27 bench points and a bevy of defensive contributions, Academy of Art women's basketball once again saw all players contribute to its 56-50 Pacific West Conference win over Jessup on the road Wednesday evening.
Just over three minutes into the game, senior forward/center
Christy Ojide Boiko had her hands on history, becoming the first Urban Knight in program history to reach 100 career blocks after rejecting a Warriors layup. The final seconds of the opening quarter were marked by a 3-pointer from redshirt freshman guard
Karereatua Williams to cut Jessup's lead to 10-9.
"Christy's growth as a vocal leader plus reaching this milestone is such a well-deserved accomplishment," said Head Coach
Jesse Clark. "She has a lot of pride in her defense and our team is fueled by her influence on and off the court."
The two sides continued to go back-and-forth in the second frame and, though the home team led by five with just under four minutes to go, ART U proceeded to execute a 7-0 run highlighted by a triple by junior guard
Alba Rovira Ayuso and two layups courtesy of sophomore guard
Lucia Revenga. Like the opening quarter, the second concluded with another 3-pointer, this one from Revenga, to give Academy of Art a 25-22 halftime advantage.
A triple by sophomore guard
Anna Fornells extended the Knights' lead to its largest to that point at 28-22, but Jessup would rally back and the teams were tied four more times before a layup by freshman forward
Keira Mitchell and free throws from Ojide Boiko put ART U in front 39-36 moving to the fourth.

Ahead by five, 45-40, with five minutes left, the Knights remained in control and a layup by Revenga plus nine made free throws in the last two minutes sealed the 56-50 triumph.
"This win was huge for us after losing the last two games," Revenga said. "The key was staying composed, trusting each other, and executing as a team down the stretch. Everyone stepped up when it mattered most."
Academy of Art elevates to 8-6 overall and 2-5 in PacWest matchups after having nine players score in the contest, extending its active streak to 20 games with at least seven different scorers. The team's top scoring total of 12 points was shared by Revenga and Rovira Ayuso while Williams and sophomore guard
Maddie Morrow provided eight and seven apiece. Ojide Boiko amassed four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the contest. 27 bench points was the squad's fourth-highest total of the season.
"We talked a lot leading up to this evening that we needed a team effort in every aspect tonight it was great have all 12 players impact the game in a positive way," Clark said. "I was also very happy with how the group came together to execute our defensive tactics."
Jessup falls to 7-8 on the year and 2-5 in conference action with Kayla Vieira totaling a team-best 12 points.
Returning to Kezar Pavilion for the first time in 2025, ART U plays its final non-conference game of the regular season, hosting Lincoln (Calif.) this Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m.
"As we prepared for our next game the focus will be on continuing to put the emphasis on our team tactics and this will result in our individual growth," Clark said.
