Peter Thibeaux, a former Golden State Warrior, joins the Urban Knights as the program's first men's basketball coach in 2008.

Thibeaux brings years of national and international professional experience to the Academy of Art University. Drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the fourth round of the NBA Draft, Thibeaux played two seasons with the Warriors, appearing in 93 games and averaging 5.0 points per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the floor. He later won a Continental Basketball Association (CBA) Championship with the Tulsa Fast Breakers under Coach Henry Bibby. He went on to play basketball in the European leagues, playing for Torino (Italy), Badajoz (Spain), Tours (France), and Denbosch (Holland). Thibeaux also played and coached for Kawasaki in the Japanese leagues. As Kawasaki's coach from 1993-94, the team won the Japanese championship.

Most recently, Thibeaux has worked as a coach, personal trainer, camp director, and mentor for his company, ProSkillz.net. He teaches basketball mechanics and fundamentals to players of all different age groups and skill levels.

Thibeaux graduated from Skyline High School in Oakland, California, where he earned numerous basketball awards, including a McDonald's All-American nomination. He went on to star at St. Mary's College, where he played four years of basketball and was a two-time First Team All-West Coast Conference. He completed his career at St. Mary’s as the second all-time leading scorer with 1,490 points and averaging 14.1 points per game. He graduated from St. Mary's with a bachelor's degree in Economics in 1983. In 1997, Thibeaux was inducted into the St. Mary's College Hall of Fame. He currently ranks in the top ten of several St. Mary’s categories in addition to career points, including blocked shots (91), field goals made (601), field goal percentage (56.3 percent), and rebounds (649).
